Personality

Besides its excellent meat-producing qualities, the New Zealand makes a great pet and show animal. They are extremely docile creatures. Our New Zealands show just as much affection as our smaller breeds! Their size seems to amaze pet owners! Our New Zealands, being purebreds, aren't small! They usually grow up to beyond 11 pounds! They can handle more stress than smaller rabbits but will require more food, cage space, and manure control!

New Zealands are the world's foremost meat producing and commercial show rabbit. Our state market pen championships and numerous Best In Show titles show that the New Zealand is the perfect meat rabbit. The New Zealand is "The Breed in the Lead"!

Weights:

Senior Bucks - 9 to 11 pounds (Ideal - 10 pounds)
Senior Does - 10 to 12 pounds (Ideal - 11 pounds)
Intermediate Bucks - Not over 10 pounds
Intermediate Does - Not over 11 pounds
Junior Bucks and Does - 4 1/2 to 9 pounds
Pre-Junior Bucks and Does - Not over 6 pounds

Note: Juniors and Intermediates may be shown in higher classes if they exceed their weight limits. No animal may be shown in a lower age classification than its true age.

Varieties:

Black • Red • White

Fur:

Flyback, which has a "slick" feel

Claws/Nails:

Baby claws are the worst. Can scratch deep if not clipped because of their size.

Cleanliness:

Very clean animals. Some bucks do "spray" if they're not neutered or put to stud use. Their cage and most of them becomes yellow.
